NIPR’s Vision and Mission Statement |
|
The National Institute for Patient Rights was founded with the sole purpose of helping patients and their advocates protect and promote their rights, and prevent the violation of patient rights. We are a nonpartisan, free-standing, community interest corporation with a social mission dedicated to improving the provision of health care services in a manner respectful of the dignity of patients. NIPR sponsors programs and publishes materials to educate the general public on their rights as patients and patient advocates as well as on the violation of patient rights. NIPR tools and policies emerge from the following belief: “Component management in medicine leads to episodic intervention which causes a fragmentation of patient care. This leads to a widespread violation of the most fundamental patient rights of self-determination and informed consent in shared medical decision-making.”
